New Delhi, India – A high school student from New Delhi is making waves with her new charitable foundation, “Tiny Hearts,” which funds heart surgeries for children from poor families. So far, she has raised Rs. 30,00,000 to help these kids get the life-saving treatments they need.

The inspiration for “Tiny Hearts” came after a chat with Dr. O. P. Yadav, the Chairman of the National Heart Institute. During their conversation, the student, Kyra Sama, learned about an unsettling trend: majority of the children brought in for heart surgery by their parents were male. This highlighted a gender bias in Indian families, where boys often get more medical attention than girls.

“Dr. Yadav’s insights really opened my eyes,” she said. “I realized this was not just about health but also about gender equality. I couldn’t wrap my head around how parents could leave their girl babies untreated. It honestly made me cry. I wanted to do something to help all children, no matter their gender.”

“Tiny Hearts” was born from this determination. The foundation not only funds surgeries but also aims to raise awareness about the importance of equal treatment for all children.

“It’s heartbreaking to see that even in matters of life and death, gender bias plays a role,” Kyra remarks. “Through ‘Tiny Hearts,’ I hope not only to save lives but also to raise awareness about this issue and advocate for equal treatment for female babies.”

Her initiative has been widely praised, and she continues to work hard to raise more money and help more families. She is also engaged in highlighting the gender bias in government agencies in India.

The success of “Tiny Hearts” shows how one person’s kindness and determination can make a big difference. As “Tiny Hearts” grows, its founder is committed to saving lives and promoting gender equality in healthcare. Her work is a shining example of how young people can drive positive change in their communities.

Tiny Hearts is thrilled to announce that it has received a generous funding of 15 lakhs from the Sterling Tools Foundation. This significant contribution will aid in our mission to provide heart surgeries and raise awareness about equal healthcare for children. Tiny Hearts extends heartfelt thanks to its supporters and the Sterling Tools Foundation for their unwavering support and commitment to this cause.

Tiny Hearts is thrilled to announce a partnership with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, the largest trust hospital in New Delhi, to provide life-saving heart surgeries for children who have received funding from the foundation. This collaboration aims to ensure that all beneficiaries receive the highest quality medical care. Tiny Hearts extends heartfelt thanks to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for their support and commitment to this vital cause.
